Dorien Herremans

Dorien Herremans graduated as a commercial engineer in management information systems at the University of Antwerp in 2005. She is currently working on her PhD in the topic of using metaheuristics for computer aided composing.

From 2010, she is working as a mandaatassistent (AAP) of the Faculty of Applied Economics of the University of Antwerp. Before that, she worked as a Drupal consultant and was an IT lecturer at the Gesthotel University in Bluche, Switzerland.

Dorien's research focuses on applications of OR in the field of music. She has developed a variable neighborhood search that can compose or generate fifth species counterpoint, with composer specific characteristics.
